Using Products For More Than One Purpose

There are so many products on the store and in your regimes that can be used for more than one thing. Well, we're all about value at The Skin Nerd so here are a few additional uses for some of our favourite products - if you want any more info on the individual products, simply click the image and it will take you to the product description on the store!

Use the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser as a mask

The Murad AHA/BHA cleanser is phenomenal for those tackling minor congestion (ie. blackheads and baby little whiteheads) whilst wanting to stave off the signs of ageing. If it is part of your regime, you will have already experienced the effects so I do not need to convince you.

If you want a more thorough exfoliation to get rid of dullness - we all have those weeks where our skin just is not feeling its best - pop on the AHA/BHA cleanser in a thick layer as you would a mask and leave it on for 10-20 minutes and then wash it off thoroughly after. I wouldn't suggest any longer than this as it is a fairly potent cleanser, acids-wise - you don't want to be flaking off all over the shop.

Use your AVST as an eye cream

You know my feelings on eye cream - for many, I don't see them as a necessity, but as more of an add-on to your core regime. One of the reasons for this is that plenty of serums actually knock it out of the park when it comes to the delicate under-eye skin, specifically vitamin A.

Vitamin A can go all up in the periorbital area and under the brow bone. It probably shouldn't be too close to your bottom lash line though. It is not good for the eyeball itself and it would be a waste of your precious product!

Mix Colostrum Gel & Clear Cell Cleanser and use as a masque

This is another masque idea and it is a bit of a strange one but there is good reasoning behind it. Colostrum, with its growth factors galore, is fabulous for healing and Clear Cell Clarifying Cleanser is a true spot-tackler being absolutely full of salicylic acid. Combining the healing powers of colostrum with the clearing powers of Clear Cell means you have a powerful breakout mask that will help to dissolve the sebum in your pores whilst bringing down the inflammation caused by the infection. As before, leave it on for 10-20 minutes and wash it off very well.

Use cleanser as shower gel

As has been a big theme for us this month, you have to think of your body shkin too. It is so common to get spots on your back and on your bum and you should not feel embarrassed when it comes to asking your Nerdette about this. Who hasn't had a bum spot at some point?! If you only get the odd body spot, for example, around your period, use your regular cleanser as a shower gel for that time. Environ's Sebuwash is particularly good at this as it is not overly drying but I've heard the Nerdettes suggest Neostrata's Foaming Glycolic Wash too for those prone to an ingrown or two. Remember to pop on a nourishing lotion afterwards so you don't end up with dry, ashy skin.

Use Lotion Yon-ka as pillow spray

This may be a little notions but many rely on pillow spray to help them relax. There is nothing as instantly soothing as a noseful of essential oils (not literally, please do not put things up your nose). Lotion Yon-ka works nearly too well as a pillow spray.

Some of Team Nerd experimented by putting a bit of Lotion Yon-ka into the ends of their hair in the office and were pleasantly surprised at how good it is at softening and leaving a lovely light scent in it. Disclaimer: this may not be fab for your hair in the long term - I am not The Hair Nerd.

Use Urban Veda Purifying Body Wash as a tan remover

During our Urban Veda training recently, the trainer brought up that the Purifying Body Wash can help to take off tan... If I wasn't sold on Urban Veda before they told me that, I 110% was after.

Basically, pop some into a warm bath and gently rub yourself with an old Cleanse Off Mitt and you should be tan-free. Much more skin-friendly than grating the tanned layers off with an exfoliating mitt. This is brand new to the store too - woop woop!

Use Waxperts Wonder Pads on beard rash

Waxperts Wonder Pads are essentially just salicylic acid wipes, which makes them such a multi-purpose wonder product. Hence the name, I presume! Wonder Pads are great for battling beard rash on those who can grow beards as salicylic is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.
